Year 7 Catch Up Funding
Schools also receive funding for pupils in year 7 who did not achieve at least Level 4 in reading or maths at the end of key stage 2 (KS2). For the year 2016-17 we received £3,147.
At Kingstone High School Year 7 catch-up funding is used to improve the reading skills of students. The school uses Year 7 catch-up funding effectively and students who arrived at the school with some gaps in their reading skills improve rapidly.
Ofsted 2015 “Year 7 ‘catch-up’ funding has been spent largely on specialist literacy teaching and this has been particularly effective in helping students to catch up in reading”.
