KHS hold Y11 Mock Interviews

On Wednesday 16th March, Kingstone High School held Mock Interviews for Year 11 students. The Mock Interviews gave students an insight of what they can expect when they attend job/college interviews in the future, with students asked a number of questions from interviewers, before they were given the opportunity to ask questions of their own. Finally, the students were given feedback on how the interview went to help them understand what they did well, but also where they can improve for future interviews.

We were very fortunate to have a number of local businesses from a variety of sectors support us by interviewing our students and the feedback we received was really positive.

Frank Cornthwaite, Director of Frank’s Luxury Biscuits said: “I remain overwhelmed by the high standard from the seven students I had the joy of meeting. Visiting your school was the high point of my week and I congratulate both staff and pupils for the way in which this event was organized”.

Nicky Scott from HWGTA said: “All students were extremely well-prepared for interview and had produced some excellent CVs”.

Barry Tapping, Talent Acquisition Officer from ETL Systems said: “I found the students at Kingstone Academy to be professional, smart, and well-prepared for their mock interviews.  It was really encouraging that many of the students had already identified their career goals with a few already identifying companies of interest.  I really enjoyed the mock interviews and would encourage local businesses to get involved for future events”.

Anthony Osborne from Hereford Sixth Form College said: “The pupils were a credit to themselves and to the school. They were superbly turned out, polite, engaging and altogether well-prepared for the event. A big well done to all concerned”.

The students were great ambassadors for Kingstone High School and although there were understandably some nerves, they all agreed the experience gained from the interviews will help them in the future.

Luke Hammett, Year 11 said: “The mock interviews sessions were really useful in terms of understanding the type of questions you may get asked at a real job interview. The interviewers were great and gave excellent feedback. Overall, I really enjoyed the session and I feel much more confident now.

Overall, it was a very successful event and everyone at Kingstone High School would like to thank the businesses that supported us, the staff that organised the event and finally the students, who did themselves proud.
